EXPOSURE THERAPY
An educational community for strategic minds.
Strategy is everything.
It’s how you build a brand, win a market, move in the world, and live meaningfully. It’s also a demanding lifelong practice.
Exposure Therapy is an active gathering of innovative people who move the practice of strategy forward.
It’s all centered on a highly curated, high-touch Slack community with powerful programming and original content created by us, for you.
We expose ourselves to provocative new ideas, bring in smart new voices, actively train ourselves to be better strategic thinkers, meet for immersive and connective dinners, and grow in both our personal and professional lives.
Exposure Therapy is where we explore the most important thinking in strategy, brand, culture and futurism today. You will continually get better at your craft.
Where else would you get to do all of this cool stuff? →
-
We’re bringing our wide network of thinkers, authors, strategists, researchers and creatives to you in intimate conversations, to discuss the most provocative questions in their fields.
These roundtables are designed to go off the beaten path, where you can ask the kinds of deep, action-oriented questions that rarely get asked in other venues. Get inside the minds of people that are solving big problems and creating new futures. -
The heart of this community is shared exploration, and our organized community discussions give everyone a chance to spend time with each other and our team, going deep on monthly topics and any other ideas that captivate our members. You will walk away with new ideas, new insights you can work with right away, and a new understanding of how brand, culture and markets are evolving.
-
Our absolute favorite part is spending time with you in person. Our dinners in Los Angeles and New York aren’t just meetings in restaurants. They’re themed gatherings with fun surprises, thoughtful activities for creativity and introspection, and most importantly, they’re designed to make deep, intimate connections between members. These highly intentional events are the highlight of our Exposure Therapy community. They’re not to be missed.
Any member is welcome to any party in LA and NYC, regardless of what city they’re located in.
-
If we’re known for anything it’s our strategic research, and now we’re sharing it with you. Our original research makes sense of culture, reveals how consumers are being conditioned by the market, and will provide you with novel (and very actionable) perspectives on the underlying forces behind waves of new innovation.
Our insights will help any person, in any role, at any company, understand where the strategic opportunities of the next 3-5 years will emerge.
-
Our team reserves a handful of hours every month for 1-on-1s with members to consult on their specific challenges. If you’ve been struggling with a strategy project, need some immediate brand insights, need a quick overview of market forces in a specific niche, want to run product strategy by peers, are looking for general advice in your work, or any other strategic or branding need, we’re here to support you.
-
Every application includes a personal interview with our team so we can get to know you in a meaningful way. The more we learn about you, the more we can provide personal intros to other members of the community that we think would be great for you to know.
We connect people who can help each other with specific challenges, who share obsessions and interests, who can benefit from each other’s points of view, who will inspire each other, who are doing the same things in wildly different ways, who we know will form a bond.
Our connections are intentional and our hope is to enrich you with friendships you may have never found outside of Exposure Therapy.
-
Every video, discussion, worksheet, exercise, resource, transcript and recording is organized and archived for our members to return to whenever they want. If you can’t make it to any of our roundtables, events, or other online gatherings, rest assured you can always access our valuable content.
Our deep archives are an ever-growing asset for all members of the community.
How it works:
$4,000 annual membership
Applications considered on a monthly basis
Each month we’ll expose you to a big idea that is either strategically or culturally relevant.
Then we go deep. You’ll have a chance to join expert roundtables and community discussions, explore shared ideas, and see our original research focused on that topic. Our goal is to explore from every possible angle.
The topics are exciting and far-ranging, from “How To Change Someone’s Mind” and “Understanding People” to “Infinite Play” and “Evolution of Trust”.
Individually, they will help you understand the landscape.
Together, they help you understand how the world works.
The whole point of Exposure Therapy is to be open to unexpected insights. Even if a topic isn't immediately relevant to your field, there are fundamental human truths and insights within it that are… and that’s usually where game-changing perspectives come from.
We help you predict the future so you can own it.

Meaning in Crisis
October 2026
The existential doors have been blown wide open. A meaning crisis is tearing society apart and nobody can agree on where it came from or what to do about it. And it’s not like the emergence of AI is going to make it any better (or will it?). In moments of meaning crisis, culture is malleable. Old institutions lose trust, new communities form, and brands step into unexpected roles.
We’ll examine what meaning is, how the systems of meaning have changed, and why it matters. You’ll learn how leaders, brands, and creators can offer their audiences meaning instead of just messaging.
-
Optimism
November 2026
Great futurists teach us that the easy thing to do is take a problem, extrapolate into the future, and declare disaster… but that’s not how the future usually unfolds. It’s much harder to project the nuanced, optimistic future that usually wins outsized returns. Optimism may seem like, but it’s truly a discipline—the ability to scan the horizon, see possibility amid uncertainty, and articulate a future people want to follow.
This month is about building that muscle together. Through exercises, workshops and provocations, we’ll learn how optimism becomes a strategic advantage.
-
Celebration and Ritual
December 2026
Celebration and ritual have always gone hand-in-hand. Ritual has mostly been lost in collective culture, and there’s a palpable sense we’re celebrating less, or at least differently. We’ll analyze how rituals and celebrations are evolving, and where we most need them but no longer have them.
From birthdays to brand launches, holidays to fandom meetups, rituals shape how we connect and celebrations anchor what matters. This month we’ll dive deep into designing modern rituals for yourself, your community, and your brand.

The Leveraged Strategist
January 2027
One person with a good stack and clear perspective will out-ship a department of twelve. We'll explore how to change your mindset for real advantage using a spectrum of tools, ideologies, and approaches.
Can't just bolt AI onto a job and think you're ahead. The real work is upstream in systematizing, breaking problems apart, delegating, and seeing yourself as the most valuable part of a much larger process. This month is about how to manage your energy, not just your time, and how to compound your judgment instead of substituting for it. You'll train yourself in a different mindset for approaching work and rethinking the value you provide.
-
Worldbuilding
February 2027
Every brand has been handed a worldbuilding mandate, but a world is not a moodboard. You have to know how to build it properly, because when everything collapses into story, the world you construct becomes the foundation everything else stands on.
A world is rules, canon, contradiction, energy and evolution. It sets the values, organizes everything into one coherent context, and says “people like us do things like this” — which is the prerequisite for any real brand mythology. We'll get into how belief systems are made and why people are hungry for far more depth than brands are currently offering them.
-
Price
March 2027
People pay in money, time, effort, access and attention. Every one of those is a price, and every price sends a signal. This month is about learning to read those signals, in order to predict where a market is heading and price yourself without leaving money on the table.
We'll get into the new premiums people are willing to pay and what they reveal about status and value, now that class is measured in time, health, knowledge and access just as much as money. We'll also cover the irrational side: why we're so strange about price, and what that exposes about how we make every other decision. It’s part Economics 201, part hidden craft.

Luck & Alchemy
April 2027
Luck is a skill, and approached the right way it produces something close to magic. This month is about engineering your own, so improbable outcomes start finding you instead of everybody else.
We'll cover the habits behind it, like manufacturing surface area, running cheap bets, keeping strange company, creating collisions, and getting into the right room before it's a room. There's real science under all of it, including the neuroscience of manifestation and how the subconscious keeps solving problems you've stopped consciously working on. And because you live the life you focus on, we'll look at the biggest bet available to anyone: reinventing yourself.
-
Playing Host
May 2027
Anyone building community is in the business of hospitality, but what it means to be a real host is changing. You must be a master of intimacy, creating spaces with real thresholds that make people vulnerable to one another. Most importantly, they must feel changed.
That kind of transformation is very hard work and as more of life shifts into irl, and greater parts of the economy center on hosted experiences, a new playbook is being written. We'll go deep into the art and science of placemaking, the practice of vulnerability and risk in order to engage, and the kinds of hosts and experiences people will be yearning for in the next 1-2 years.
-
Collective Fantasy
June 2027
What are the emerging fantasies of our time? This month we read fiction, sci-fi, horror and games as forecast data, in order to hear what people want before they're able to say it out loud.
Everyone dreams of escape, and those escape fantasies are a map of human aspiration. What do people really want from themselves and each other? What story do people want to believe in, and are they actually willing to make it a reality? Our fantasies change when the authors do, and right now those authors are changing the fantasy of collective action in important ways.

Cultivating Perspective
July 2027
Taste isn't really about taste, it's downstream of perspective. This month is all about learning how to see things others can't, in order to attract an audience of true believers that engage more deeply.
When a machine can summarize anything and everyone works on the same facts, information is no longer an asset. What's valuable instead is interpretation: looking at the same inputs and seeing something they can't see. We'll explore everything, from aesthetics and beauty to desire and agency, in order to resist the mean. Originality has never been more valuable.
-
Super Weird
August 2027
Most people flinch at the fringe: the strange, taboo, unrecognizable, abnormal and paranormal, goosebump-inducing, terrifyingly intoxicating, repulsing yet attracting. This month we develop a taste for it instead.
The edges of culture are where value lives because by the time something arrives in the mainstream, it's already lost its value - and that halflife keeps getting shorter. It's rewritten the economics of brand toward increasingly favoring the small and the strange. We'll explore where weirdness incubates, how to spot it early, and how to locate the Goldilocks Zone that separates signal from noise.

Education
September 2027
What future are we actually preparing ourselves for, and what kind of education prepares our children for it? This month is about auditing your own relationship with the future, so you can find the blindspots in what you were taught and get ahead of what's becoming valuable instead.
There are dozens of new education experiments running right now and they're a preview of where learning is headed. We'll get into the new curriculum and the skills nobody is teaching yet, plus the systems of circumvention that appear whenever old institutions can't adapt. Access to all of it is uneven, which makes this a question of whose future, and of the bets parents are placing on their behalf.

How to See Time
October 2027
Every generation is certain it's living in the final act, and every generation is wrong. We'll learn how to read the shape of an era, so you can tell a genuine turning point from passing noise.
Fourth turnings, Kondratiev waves, decadence theory — there are many competing instruments for the same question. Our perspective on time has shifted more in the last 50 years than in all of history before it, and it's changed how we see both legacy and purpose. Whether we read time on the human scale, generational scale, or civilizational scale, or whether we see it as linear, cyclical, or spiral, each one gives us a unique insight that can't be seen through any other lens.

Altered States
November 2027
A higher plane awaits us all. Changing your consciousness doesn't require a substance anymore, but if you do want a substance, there's also a new slate of psychedelics available to you. There are many paths all reaching for the same destination.
What used to be a niche discussion is starting to overlay every category and domain. This month is about all of the ways culture is exploring altered states of thinking and being, and how that's changing our behaviors and expectations. It touches not just spirituality and religious belief systems, but also our bodies and relationships. Higher consciousness is the new wellness.

Decision Making
December 2027
Every decision you'll ever make will rest on imperfect information, but the decision still needs to be made. Good decision making is crucial so you can act before the window closes.
We'll get into probabilistic thinking and applied game theory, using mathematics and odds to tilt real problems in your favor. We'll cover how to actually (scientifically) train your intuition, which matters more now that there's always a machine in the room with a confident opinion. Most importantly, how to disagree and commit, so you can bring along other stakeholders and make decisions fast.
